Studio policies
At Capybara Studio, we offer multi-week courses, one-time classes, and themed events. Each session is thoughtfully prepared, with materials, tools, and instructor time reserved specifically for you. Because of this, we have clear attendance and refund policies to ensure fairness and clarity for everyone.
MULTI-WEEK COURSES
6-Week Courses
We offer one make-up class during the 6-week course period, if space is available.
Make-ups are possible but not guaranteed, and are offered as a courtesy, depending on class capacity and scheduling.
Only one make-up is allowed per course. No exceptions.
3-Week Courses
Due to the condensed nature of 3-week courses, no make-ups are available for missed classes.
First Class Attendance (All Courses)
Attendance at the first class is mandatory for both 6-week and 3-week courses.
If you miss the first session, we unfortunately cannot continue your enrollment, and no refund or make-up will be provided.
Refund & Credit Policy for Courses
This refund policy applies to all 6-week and 3-week courses:
Full refund (minus a $75 processing fee) if cancellation is made at least 1 month before the course begins.
No refunds for cancellations made within 2 weeks of the course start date.
If you cancel 2–4 weeks before the course, we may offer a studio credit or transfer your registration to a future course — at our discretion.
Missed Classes & No-Shows
If you need to miss a class (other than the first one) and you notify us in advance, we may be able to offer:
A make-up session (if applicable and available), or
A studio credit (case-by-case basis)
Make-ups and credits are not guaranteed.
No-shows without communication are not eligible for refund, credit, or make-up.
CLASSES & EVENTS
This includes:
Pottery wheel drop-in classes
Handbuilding and Painting sessions
Parties & Private events
If you miss your scheduled one-time class and do not notify us in advance, your spot is considered forfeited.
No-shows without prior notice are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Subscription class
Subscribers may make up one missed class per month, regardless of the number of absences. Make-up classes are subject to availability and must be scheduled in advance. Unused make-up opportunities do not carry over to future months.
Parties & Events Cancellation
If you cancel your event more than 14 days in advance, we will issue a full refund minus a $75 processing fee.
If you cancel less than 14-7 days in advance, we will refund 70% of the total, as the spot was held exclusively for your group.
Cancellations made less than 7 days before the event are non-refundable, but we may offer a 50% credit toward a future event.
Rescheduling Policy
We understand that plans can change. If you are unable to attend your scheduled class (including Handbuilding, Ceramic Painting, Pottery Wheel, or other one-time sessions), you may request to reschedule, subject to the following conditions:
Rescheduling must be completed within 1 month of the original class date.
You may only reschedule for dates that are currently available on our online calendar.
Rescheduling is allowed only once per booking. Additional changes are not permitted.
We kindly ask that you provide a specific date when rescheduling. Open-ended requests such as “I’ll come in a month or two” cannot be accommodated.
If no dates are available within the 1-month window, we may offer a one-time extension of up to 2 additional weeks (for a total of 6 weeks from the original class date).
After this period, we are unable to guarantee rescheduling or apply class credit.
Please refer to our online calendar for available dates and inform us of your preferred option at the time of rescheduling.
CLAY WORK WAIVER & UNCLAIMED WORK POLICY
Due to the natural properties of clay and the firing process, pieces may crack, break, or explode. These outcomes are beyond our control and are a normal part of working with clay. We cannot guarantee that all work will survive the process or accept responsibility for any damage or loss.
All finished or unfinished clay pieces left after classes, events, courses, open studio sessions, or camps will be stored for up to 3 months from the date of the activity. After that, we reserve the right to discard, donate, or repurpose unclaimed items. We cannot guarantee the safety or availability of any work left beyond this period.
KILN SAFETY POLICY
For safety reasons, we’re unable to accept any pieces for firing once they have left the studio, even if they were originally created here. Our kilns are sensitive equipment, and to ensure proper firing and avoid damage, we must maintain strict control over all items being processed.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help you make the most of your experience at Capybara Studio.
